U of M Wrestling Center

Ann Arbor, MI

The University of Michigan Recreation Facility was awarded in February 2010 and consists of 1,275 SF of MCM Panels, including multiple radius panels and column covers.

New 18,000-square-foot facility houses comprehensive training and support facilities for the Wolverine wrestling program, including 7,500-square feet of mat space, locker rooms, coaches offices, an athletic training room with a separate hydrotherapy room and a second-floor strength-and-conditioning area. The facility is one of only two stand-alone collegiate wrestling training centers in the country.

The design reflects Michigan's athletic tradition and will complement surrounding athletic facilities. The building materials will be a combination of brick and composite metal panel with the main entrance highlighted by a curved two-story wall of glass. On the south façade of the facility, a series of large windows will face a natural wooded wetland area. A standing seam metal roof will be highlighted by a ribbon window that wraps around the entire structure.

"Recently we had the pleasure of working with CEI Composite Materials, LLC on the West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. The staff at CEI was prompt from shop drawings through the delivery of material to our office and the field. With constant communication we were kept informed. Coordination for the installation and all work accomplished on-site was managed professionally with attention to detail; problems were handled swiftly without delay to the project. We look forward to working with CEI on future projects utilizing composite materials."
