Apartment Complex In The Heart Of Alexandria Undergoes Massive Interior And Exterior Renovation
The Southern Towers apartment building in Alexandria, Virginia was originally built in 1963 and in desperate need of renovation. The building owner commissioned Hickok Cole Architects for a complete overhaul of the interior and exterior of the complex. The architect readapted the space to provide a more contemporary, welcoming design.
DC Residential High-Rise In NoMa Neighborhood Features Striking Brick And Metal Façade
D.C.’s NoMa neighborhood was named for its location on Massachusetts Avenue, “North of Massachusetts Avenue.” The emergent area is renowned for its adaption of unused industrial lots, and is the new home of Union Place. The 525-unit residential building stands 14-stories high and was designed by Virginia’s own Davis Carter Scott (DCS Design).
University Building Attracts Students With Stunning Multi-Metal Exterior Façade
The Kaplan Hall on the SUNY Orange Newburgh Campus is a 90,000 square-foot building designed by JMZ Architects & Planners. The building features classroom space, nursing school, library and a three-story café. The structure sits atop the campus’ 345,000 square-foot subterranean parking facility.

The apartment complex on L’Ile-Saint-Denis in Paris features undulating balconies composed of perforated metal. Designed by Peripheriques Marin+Trottin and Jumeau Architectes, the project overlooks the Seine river. Major construction is underway on L’Ile-Saint-Denis in anticipation for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games.
